Talent Show May 2015

This school year has really been amazing for so many reasons. After our housing fiasco and quick last-second move last summer, we ended up at a fantastic school here in Plymouth (that even has a half-day kindergarten option!), with the best of teachers. And it's the only year that Kimball and Eliza and Grant will all get to go to the same school. When the kids told me a while ago that tryouts were coming up for the school talent show, I thought it would be fun for all three of them to do something together. Here's what we came up with.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"

Grant was especially nervous for the performance this week, but he's all about being big like Kimball and Eliza, so he got up there and just did it. I was really proud of all the kids for being brave enough to perform. My only memory of performing in a school talent show when I was a kid was from maybe 4th grade when I played a song on the piano. I was so nervous and was shaking so badly that every time I tried to push the pedal down the whole piano would rattle. Not good. Seriously, my kids are so much braver than I was at their ages! :)

Waiting for their turn to perform

All done!

Eliza and a friend in her class wanted to do a gymnastics routine for the talent show. They worked on it at recess and got together several Saturdays to practice. I helped them a bit, but it was mostly all their ideas. It was really fun to watch them cooperate and plan--even down to their coordinating outfits.
The "super awesome" gymnasts
Samuel was such a good sport and sat through not one but two 1.5-hour talent shows in one day (they had to do a morning and afternoon performance). He was so happy to run around and be free once we got home. All the kids were playing outside and he joined in the fun. He looked way too old out there as one of the big kids.
